I know, we all have the same amount of time. So why don't I spend the weekend writing?
Because it's August, and that means the garden is full of goodies, the house needs cleaning, and the family is at home. Since it will only be the three of us for two more weeks, that's definitely my high priority right now.
So I didn't write this weekend, unless you count a brief review of An Abundance of Katherines for a newsletter writing. Love that book! Mostly because I know enough kids who bear a resemblance to Colin and Hassan. And the fact that John Green can write rings around so very many writers of contemporary fiction.
But I did see Stardust. Excellent movie! Somewhere I read a review that said it wanted to be the next Princess Bride, and while I don't think it quite attained that status (I don't, for instance, want to watch it again and again until I've memorized every line of dialog), it was a really, really good movie. My husband and I played "that's the guy from" or "wasn't she in," in between laughs. And I discovered today that "whoopsie" is a word I will never again be able to use without laughing.
So the question is, why, if I enjoy fantasy so much, don't I write it? Hmmm.
